Summary of Duties
The Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life is responsible for assisting in the management of a comprehensive housing services, conduct system, and residence life program. To fulfill the mission and goals of the University, the Assistant Director collaborates in the planning, policy formulation and administration of all services and educational programs of the Housing and Residence Life Office, while also serving in a supportive role in the activities of the Student Life Division.
The Assistant Director is directly responsible for the day-to-day supervision and evaluation of the graduate-level Residence Directors. In addition, this individual is responsible for coordinating and supervising the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation processes of the RDs and Resident Assistants (RAs). The staff member should promote staff teamwork and assist in coordinating staff duty/area coverage. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Housing and Residence Life to participate in a rotating “on-call” weekend and evening professional staff coverage to respond to emergency situations and staff or student needs.
The Assistant Director will assist in developing and implementing learning objectives, assessment methods, and programming efforts consistent with the goals of the department and the University's Mission. The Assistant Director will serve as a conduct hearing officer, Title IX investigator, and on various University and Student Life Division committees, as appointed.
The Assistant Director is directly responsible to the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Housing and Residence Life.
The Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life is appointed by the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Housing and Residence Life after consultation with the Dean of Students.
Bachelor's degree required. Master’s degree in higher education or a closely related field preferred.
Work Experience Requirements
One to three years of housing and residence life experience.
Energetic self-starters who understand and appreciate the University’s Catholic mission and values.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are expected as are strong interpersonal and organizational abilities and technology competence.

Must be able to traverse the campus and residence halls as needed. May need to assist with moving of residence hall furniture.
